Good morning County! Happy Monday!
We start of this week with a bit of a good news story in that yesterday saw Halifax County celebrating another amazing group of retirees. We had a lovely brunch at the Delta, and it was a wonderful time of celebration for a great group of educators who have made it to the finish line. I often like to ask the retirees where they plan on being on the first day of school in September, and I had one gentleman tell me his notice of assignment for 2018-19 listed his local Legion! Thanks to our social wellness chair, Mona MacNeil, and her committee for organizing such a great event, and congratulations to all our retirees.
In other news, there was some concern expressed last week about a notice that went out from Stock Transportation concerning the bus schedule for next year. The memo spoke of how, in order to address scheduling issues, the company may be dropping students off at school outside of the twenty minute window. Please note that the responsibility for providing supervision for students during that time falls to the HRCE. To be clear, no NSTU member is required to supervise students outside of the 20/20, and we have received assurances from the HRCE that they will not be asking members to do so.
Although I am sure I do not have to remind those of you who are eligible, the Teacher Placement Process gets underway this Saturday starting at 8:30am. Your three local Presidents will be there with coffee and some treats, and to answer any questions you may have. Please stop by and say hello, and do not hesitate to call on us should you have any questions during the process.
That is it for this week, all. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, and have a great week.
