Well, folks, that just about wraps up another year.
This will be my last Check-in of the year, and as you all set about the last few weeks of business that is the end of year wrap up, I just wanted to send out a wish that your summer be restful and at least somewhat relaxing.
In one last little bit of union news, we did manage to get through the Teacher Placement Process on Saturday, and we had almost two hundred teachers secure employment for next year. I want to take a moment to congratulate everyone who did so, and wish them an excellent summer of anticipation and excitement.
As well, with the departure of Paul Wozney to the Provincial President’s seat, we will be holding an election for his now vacant Provincial Executive spot as soon as is feasible in September. This will be a one year position (to finish Paul’s term), and will begin immediately upon election. If you are interested in putting your name forward, please keep a close eye out for dates and timelines which will be given out in September.
Finally, I want to take a moment to acknowledge and thank all the reps for their hard work this year, and make a special mention of the local executive. They put in hours and hours of volunteer time to ensure the successful running of this local, and always did so with professionalism and commitment. As turbulent as this year was, I was always able to take solace in the fact that I could count on the members at the executive table to do whatever was required of them, and to go above and beyond when the task required them to do so. Thank you all.
Have a great final few days, County. Be safe this summer, and we will see you all back here safe and sound come September!
