Good morning County! Happy Monday!
Wow. Hard to believe that we are already at the end of September!
I want to start off this week by announcing that we have two candidates vying for a seat on our Provincial Executive. They are Duncan Cameron and Drew Fournier. Voting day is October 29th, and I would like to wish both of these exceptional candidates the best of luck in the upcoming election. Regardless of outcome, County will be well represented!
As well, don’t forget that we are still accepting applications for the position of VP professional development on our local executive team. If you wish to get involved at the local level, this seat could be for you. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for complete details.
Two quick insurance items. The first is regarding the upcoming Dental Benefit enrollment deadline is (October 15th). The other is that there is change in the Mental Health and Wellness Grant deadline. The deadline is now October 30th and the application can be found online on the NSTU website.
Last week was again filled with quite a bit of confusion and frustration around October Conference and the online registration system. We have received assurances that the system is now operating as it should. If you have issues with setting up your web account, please email email@example.com. If you have registration issues contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Next, we have been hearing quite a bit about class caps and overcrowding in some schools. Please note that today is the final day (officially) for HRCE to address these issues. If you have any concerns after today, please let me know.
A quick shout out and thank you to our awesome social wellness committee for organizing another great event. We received some great feed back on the Yuk Yuks evening on Saturday. A little levity goes a long way, and I want to thank the members of that committee for their efforts!
Finally, this Friday is member engagement day! We have once again this year sent gift cards out with the reps to order up some treats and goodies for you to enjoy. For those schools who did not have a rep at Wednesday’s meeting, I will be sending them out by mail, addressed to “NSTU Rep”. With a bit of luck, they should arrive before Friday.
That’s it for this week, County! Have a great one!
