Check- In, Monday, January 27th

Good morning County! Happy Monday!

Are you feeling a bit sluggish lately? Have you got a case of the mid-winter ‘blahs’? Are you looking for a bit of inspiration? Well, The Winter Wellness Challenge may be just what you are looking for! This challenge is designed to get you up and moving through these somewhat bleak winter months, and hopefully allow you to have some fun while doing so. With the onset of ‘flu season, health and wellness take a front row seat, so sign up today 🙂

As well, for those of you who are new to the profession, (or new to the union) don’t forget about our new member conference taking place in February. This will be a great opportunity to learn about how our organization works, and bring your concerns forward. Please sign up soon, as seats are filling fast.

Speaking of events, our fantastic social wellness committee has another great gathering planned. Join us on Wednesday, February 12th at the Porter’s Lake Pub, Highway 7 between 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm. We welcome you  for some complimentary appetizers and some great conversation.

On a more serious note, I want to once again remind you of the process for what to do if you are being subjected to violence at your workplace. If you see an incident, or are subject to one, you should be filling out a HRCE incident reporting form, available on document depot. These should be submitted both to your admin team and your schools JOHS committee. If you have any specific questions, drop me a line.

Finally, a bit of fun for you. In our effort to be more welcoming to our substitute teachers, I am looking for your help. If you have a sub who is a regular in your building, can you please forward their name and a brief write up of why they are so awesome to me. Include their name and your school, and they will be entered into a random draw. If they win, I will send them a small thank you along with the anonymous write up.

Please forward the names using this form no later than February 7th.

That’s all for now folks! Have a great week and best of luck to those of you who are into exams.
