Good Morning, County! Happy March!
Just a few quick informational items for this week.
For those of you who are being impacted by the school realignment, I am still waiting to hear back from HRCE about which HR manager will be helping out with the transition. However, I have been informed that their HR team will be meeting over the next few days and will be following up with me this week. As soon as I know more, I will advise you of what our plans are for meeting with teachers at the effected schools.
I do want to again reassure you that I have been through re-alignments before, and that I will do my best to make sure all your questions are answered once we start the process.
Speaking of questions, I am getting a few already about report cards. Just to clarify report cards for elementary and junior high do not have to be submitted prior to THURSDAY, MARCH 25th. That is the day after the assessment and evaluation day, which has been provided to complete this work. Should you have any questions, drop me a line.
We have a few information sessions coming up as well for your calendars. On Thursday, April 30th, there will be another retirement information session at 3106 Joseph Howe Drive at 4:30 pm. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to register. As well, on May 14th there will be a Contract Information Session at Joseph Howe, again at 4:30 pm. If you have questions about how to navigate how to secure a contract with the HRCE, contact email@example.com to find out more.
Next, some exciting news from Social Wellness. We are hosting a great night of fun and family entertainment with the Halifax Thunderbirds, our very own professional lacrosse team on Saturday, April 25th. Simply click on the link above to access FREE tickets to the game. (1st come 1st served). The tickets will be available at the box office the night of the game.
Finally, nominations are now open for the election of a Provincial Executive member. PE serve two year terms, and may only serve for a total of four years (in most cases.) One of our current members (Shaun Doyle) is at the end of his first two year term, so the seat is open to being contested.
The Provincial Executive position is one of the most important in our organization. The Provincial Executive members are the upper chamber of decision making in the NSTU, and have a direct say in everything from NSTU structure to policy and governance. If you are interested in putting your name forward, simply click on the link on the right hand side of this page.
That’s it for today, County. Welcome to March!
