Congratulations to Paul Boudreau and Drew Fournierfor putting their names forward to serve Halifax County on the Provincial Executive. Election day is Wednesday, October 17th, so make sure yo cast your vote!

Teacher wellness

Last year, the HRRC piloted a survey around teacher overall psychological wellness called “Guarding Minds at Work“. We will be officially embarking on data collection around this issue in October, and will be providing more information as we move closer to the launch date of this important initiative. Stay tuned!

Congratulations to the following schools which participated in our “tweet-a-thon” on Friday, October 5th. Staff treats will be given to:

Rocky Lake, Brookside, Tallahassee, Madeline Symonds, Hammonds Plains, Tantallon Senior, Georges P. Vanier and Seaside. Reps can pick up the gift certificates at the October 17th meeting!

Upcoming events

There will be a trivia night held on November 1st starting at 7:00pm at the Sackville Lions Club. County members are encouraged to get together teams of no more than 6 people, 2 of whom can be non-NSTU. (Can you say ‘ringer’!) Speaking of fun events, we will be hosting a good old fashioned fire hall dance on Saturday, November 24th from 8 pm – 1 am. Come dressed in your favourite era costume (50’s – 90’s) and dance the night away to your favourite greatest hits! Email hfxcoreps@nstu.ca to secure up to 4 tickets, and join us for a great evening.
